Privacy statement

We are delighted that you have visited the website of the Stiftung für Zukunftsfragen and about your interest in our organisation.
We take the protection of your personal data very seriously.  Your data is protected within the scope of the statutory regulations.  The following data protection statement is designed to inform you what data will be collected during your visit to the website and how this will be used.

The following data protection clauses apply to all the pages of our Internet presence.  In the case of links to external sources to which our data protection clauses do not relate, we have no influence on whether or not these external providers conform to the data protection clauses.  When you leave the website of the Stiftung für Zukunftsfragen, we would recommend that you read carefully the data protection guidelines of every website that collects personal data.

Data collection

A record is kept of your visit to our website.  In this case we only record anonymous data, such as the IP address currently being used by your PC, the date and time, the type of browser and operating system of your PC and the pages that you have viewed.  It is not possible for us to generate a personal reference.  Therefore in principle you can visit our website without having to disclose any of your personal data to us.

Personal data is only recorded if you give it to us of your own accord – for example, in order to receive information or to use our services.

Confidentiality of the collected data

We take care to store your personal data in such a way, by utilising all the technical and organisational options available, that its confidentiality is assured.

Use of the collected data

The personal data that you disclose to us voluntarily (e.g. your name, address or e-mail address) will only be used for corresponding with you and for the purpose for which you have made the data available to us.
We can assure you that we will not pass on your personal data to third parties unless we are obliged by law to do so or you have previously given us your permission.

No other evaluation of the data will be carried out except for statistical purposes – and then anonymously.  Also, no personal surfing profiles or similar will be created or processed.

Cookies

In order to communicate with the Web browser, the Web server on which this website runs requires so-called “session cookies” which notify the Web server of the status of the users who have signed in onto the website.  The cookies used by this website are neither permanently saved on the Web server nor linked in any way to the user of the website.

Right of objection and access

You may object to the use of your personal data at any time.  We will comply with your objection as quickly as possible.  You may deactivate the newsletter service yourself on the appropriate page.  We will deal with your request as quickly as possible.

Furthermore, you have the right of access to the stored personal data about yourself and the right to rectify, block or delete incorrect data.  To do so, please write to the Stiftung für Zukunftsfragen - an initiative of British American Tobacco, Alsterufer 4, 20354 Hamburg, Germany, or send us an e-mail.

Updating of the data protection clauses

If the Stiftung für Zukunftsfragen introduces new services or amends its Internet procedures, or when advances take place in Internet or EDP security technology, the data protection clauses have to be updated.  We therefore reserve the right to amend or add to this statement as required.  We will publish the changes on this page.  The last update took place on 01 December 2008.
