Travel summary 2021: The desire to travel returns<\/h2>\n

  1. Travel intensity is rising again: Approximately one in two people has travelled.<\/li>\n

  3. One in two travelers chose domestic holiday destinations.<\/li>\n
  4. Spain and Italy were the most popular foreign destinations.<\/li>\n
  5. The long-distance travel market is stagnating at a low level.<\/li>\n
  6. Travel time is slowly increasing again<\/li>\n
  7. Daily costs in Germany are higher than in Europe<\/li>\n
  8. More than half have firm travel plans for 2022.<\/li>\n
  9. Corona is affecting almost all vacation plans<\/li>\n
  10. The fear of short-notice cancellations is greater than the fear of infection.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n

    These key findings come from the 38th German Tourism Analysis by the BAT Foundation for Future Issues, for which a representative cross-section of the German population of over 3,000 people aged 18 and over were surveyed online by GfK in December 2021 and January 2022 about their own travel behavior in 2021, their holiday intentions for 2022 and their expectations regarding travel in Corona times.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
