What is the importance of courage in our society? What role do role models play? In which situations do the majority of us show courage and what are potential obstacles to courageous behaviour? The scientific director of the foundation, Professor Dr Ulrich Reinhardt, provides answers to these questions.

For a good 30 years, television was the leading medium for German citizens. No other leisure activity was used as frequently and regularly as the programmes
of public and private broadcasters. This year, the internet is in the top spot for the first time, leaving television well behind.

Three out of five Germans packed their bags and travelled in 2019 - Germany, Spain and Italy were once again the most popular holiday destinations.
However, a long-term comparison shows that Germans are longing for more individuality instead of the mainstream and are increasingly travelling outside Europe.

German consumption is booming. And yet it is facing numerous challenges and changes.
What does the future of consumption look like?
What impact will digitalisation, demographic change, service, sustainability or new offerings have on consumption in the future?

European leaders from politics, business, science and culture from Angela Merkel and Manuel Macron to Joe Kaeser and Christine Lagarde
from Joseph Ratzinger to Martin Walser have written fervent pleas in favour of a united, strong and peaceful Europe.

How will - and above all - how do Germans want to work in the future? What opportunities and risks are associated with future developments?
in the world of work? What framework conditions will characterise working life in the future? These forward-looking questions
The answers to these questions are based on the scientific interpretation of representative opinion polls.
In their prognostic view of the working world of tomorrow, the authors always place people at the centre.

What will you do if you receive an unexpected windfall? How would you like to live in the future? What are the reasons for not having children? Are you happy?
What do you think of the education system? What is your favourite way to shop?
Professor Dr Ulrich Reinhardt asked Hamburg's citizens these and many other questions and analysed their answers in detail.
The result is this book, which provides a unique insight into the present and future of Hamburg. But read it for yourself!

The changing world, people at the centre - this could be the guiding principle for the future of Schleswig-Holstein.
But what already characterises life in the northernmost federal state and how do the citizens want to shape it in the future?
What is important to them, what frightens them and what gives them hope? This work offers both insights and outlooks:
The first part analyses the framework conditions that will influence our lives in the future.
The second part of the book allows 26 students to have their say in key question interviews and
thus paints a picture of the present and future of a young generation.

True to the guiding principle "Germany in transition - the focus on people", the two renowned professors analysed
Ulrich Reinhardt and Reinhold Popp surveyed representative opinions of the population. The result is
a contemporary compendium that also has its sights firmly set on the future. The book offers a scientifically
The survey provides a well-founded view of the needs and attitudes of citizens and how they think about the future. The topics range from
Work and education, leisure and consumption, family and quality of life.

Looking to the future - How do Germans imagine the future? To answer this exciting question,
the two authors Reinhold Popp and Ulrich Reinhardt have analysed representative, future-related opinions of the German population in line with the guiding principle "Focus on people - the changing world". The results were categorised into six subject areas: "Images of the future", "Future education", "Occupation and standard of living", "Leisure and quality of life", "Generations" and "Social cohesion".
The book thus offers a unique insight into how Germans think about the future and illustrates what everyday life could look like in the future.

Germany's future: German citizens are getting older and fewer and fewer children are being born.
This development will result in serious changes. But how can the ageing of society
be countered? The two authors address this question and make it clear that a new intergenerational contract is necessary to prevent the feared generational betrayal. The book is a contemporary compendium and at the same time a forward-looking specialist report that analyses the current living situation of Germans and uses practical examples to show what a new intergenerational contract could look like.

In the beginning was the idea. The idea of finding a vision, an identity, a dream for Europe.
Who or what is Europe and how do we, the Europeans, see our continent? For the "United Dreams of Europe" project
the Foundation for Future Studies conducted 27 key question interviews with target groups that shape the future and a pan-European representative survey of over 15,000 Europeans. The results reveal the fears and hopes of the population on the one hand, while the answers are encouraging on the other, as the majority of Europeans agree that the future of Europe can succeed if we work together and help each other.

What do Europeans expect from their future? The Scientific Director of the Foundation for Future Studies,
Professor Dr Ulrich Reinhardt, gives - in cooperation with the European Futurist Conference Lucerne - an overview of the
Europeans' views on the future in eight subject areas: Labour, security, consumption, integration, education, environment, family and the relationship between rich and poor. Based on a representative survey of 11,000 Europeans in nine countries, the analysis shows that although the population identifies various challenges for the future, the courage to positively shape the continent remains unbroken.

In 2007, the European Union is celebrating its 50th anniversary. In an age of increasing globalisation, the question arises: is Europe a purely geographical entity or is our continent also developing on a political, cultural and social level? In the course of this search for identity, can we even speak of an "EU-phoria" that enables us to shape a common future? The "Vision Europe" study provides answers to these questions on the basis of a pan-European representative survey and addresses the wishes and values of Europeans. The publication also shows what unites us - "unity in diversity".

Germany in the 21st century: Although Germans are getting older and older, they don't want to be old. In the publication "Ageing dreams", Ulrich Reinhardt and Horst W. Opaschowski analyse the generation of so-called "best agers". The results show that the senior citizens of today are hardly comparable with the old people of yesterday and that leaving the world of work is not synonymous with "retirement". The publication is a contemporary compendium and forward-looking specialist report that analyses the life situation of the older generation and takes a look at possible future scenarios.

The leisure industry is developing into the leading economy of the future. The growth sectors of tourism, media, culture, sport and entertainment form the basis for a prosperous global economy in the 21st century. But what are the secrets of this "eternal growth segment"? Is it the almost endless demand for a better quality of life and a better life? The editors Ulrich Reinhardt, Michael Pries and Horst W. Opaschowski formulate answers to this question and provide a detailed insight into various trends, developments and potentials in the leisure industry.

In his fundamental work "Edutainment - Bildung macht Spaß" (Edutainment - Education is Fun), Professor Dr Ulrich Reinhardt takes a critical look at the relationship between education and entertainment. In addition to a systematic approach to the field of research, a comprehensive problematisation of the term as well as historical justifications and theoretical analyses, Reinhardt uses practical examples to show how edutainment offers - for example "science centres" or theme parks - can be successfully positioned as worlds of experience in the present.
