Result

Only about half of German citizens express a positive view of their lives in Germany. This figure is particularly low among those under 30, at just 43 percent, whereas almost two-thirds of those over 65 say they are happy living in Germany. There are also significant differences based on income: while 45 percent of respondents with a low net household income are happy to have their home in Germany, the proportion is considerably higher at 65 percent among higher earners.

Reasons

The reasons for satisfaction include social security, a high standard of living and a good education system, a functioning democracy and economic opportunities, healthcare and cultural diversity, as well as the rule of law and security. Those who are dissatisfied often see things differently. Where the satisfied perceive opportunities and possibilities, they also perceive and criticize economic insecurity and high living costs, social inequality and integration problems, political tensions, and educational inequality.
The lower approval rating among younger people can be explained by greater uncertainty about their professional future, financial burdens, or the search for identity and fulfillment. It also highlights the different priorities of each generation: while those under 30 tend to seek challenges, change, career opportunities, and adventure, older citizens often place significantly more emphasis on stability and existing relationships.

Income disparities demonstrate the impact of financial resources on life satisfaction. Citizens with higher incomes enjoy greater financial security, access to a better standard of living, and more opportunities to fulfill their needs and desires. Conversely, the lives of many citizens with lower incomes are characterized by financial difficulties, limited resources, and restrictions in their daily lives, which can negatively affect their life satisfaction.

Forecast

In the long term, it will be crucial to implement targeted measures to promote the well-being of the younger generation, as they represent the future. These measures include, among others, investments in education and professional development, an emphasis on sustainability, and greater involvement of young citizens in political decision-making processes. Promoting equal opportunities and creating a supportive environment for all will also be essential to strengthening citizen satisfaction and enabling them to reach their full potential. Looking ahead, despite all the challenges, positive prospects, progressive developments, and courageous action must be emphasized and further strengthened.
