Result

The values of tolerance, politeness and honesty are fundamental pillars of social interaction and shape behaviour in society. A large majority therefore see it as a matter of course to listen to others, to respect other ways of life or to express their own opinion in the event of differences of opinion. Politeness in the form of consideration for others is also seen as important. Honesty, on the other hand, especially in relation to the tax office, is not taken for granted by quite as many.

Reasons

In a time characterised by diversity and social change, tolerance is seen as the key to integration and social peace. Citizens know how essential it is to recognise different opinions and to have the courage to express one's own opinion at any time. This is the only way to permanently avoid tensions and find common solutions. Courtesy is seen as a form of respect for others in order to create a pleasant environment for everyone. When dealing with tax matters and undeclared work, the majority abide by the existing laws. At the same time, some people apply their own standards and stretch the rules.

Forecast

In a globalised and diverse world, tolerance and the ability to accept other opinions will become increasingly important. This can help to minimise conflicts and promote an inclusive society. The importance of politeness as an expression of respect and social consideration will largely remain and contribute to maintaining positive interpersonal relationships. However, some traditions will also change, for example emancipation or media use will change behaviour in certain situations. In terms of honesty, the demand for integrity in financial matters will remain high. Increasing transparency through digitalisation will help people to make the right decisions in grey areas. Overall, citizens will continue to be aware of the central importance of tolerance, politeness and honesty for a healthy and harmonious society.
